🗣 "We must remember that the patient, especially a patient with a serious diagnosis, is already in a fragile physical and emotional state. So the ability to retain information and instructions will be diminished. Having to remember everything and having the strength and resilience to do it all is not so simple, so it would be very beneficial to have systems in place that maybe remind us when and where we have to be or follow-up visits would be organised automatically rather than we, the patient, having to make phone calls only to be told that we can't make an appointment yet or that the doctor we need to see is only avaiable in three months." ➡️ During The Health Data Summit Riga “Toward Data-Driven Health: Sharing is Caring” Zinta Uskale - founder of Pink train foundation/Rozā vilciena labdarības fonds - shared her personal story. If I talk about myself, what can be greater to share my personal data for the benefit of other patients? it is important to have as much data as possible and especially genomic data. 💻 Sharing Is Caring / Health Data Summit Riga - a public online event that will take place on November 26. ➡️ We asked an active expert of the medicine digitalization field, PD Dr. med. Dominik Pförringer (founder of makehealthdigital.com/): What are the benefits of using data in healthcare? His experience and input suggest that: "From my point of view as an orthopaedic surgeon and trauma surgeon I know that a lot of medicine is based on experience. And the experience is basically leading to a medical story, understanding the concept of diagnosis and understanding how to choose the best therapy. In the end, these always have been and will be based on data and information that we have. If we use this data and make it readable to a machine, understandable, we can then use modern concepts like artificial intelligence and machine learning. We can actually use the human brain in combination with technology and the two of them are a good partner, a team, for the ideal diagnosis and the ideal therapy in the long run. That's why I think it is unavoidable and data is the future of healthcare." 🔎 More about the summit ➡️ www.healthdatasummitriga.eu... See MoreSee Less
📧 In a time of social distancing, everyone who is professionally interested in data usage in healthcare will be welcome to join a public online event that will take place on November 26: Sharing Is Caring / Health Data Summit Riga. ➡️ We asked about the benefits of using data in healthcare to an expert of the field: Bengt Andersson, Senior advisor welfare technology of the Nordic Welfare Centre (Nordens välfärdscenter). He is also one of the authors of the recent Nordic Welfare Centre publication "Healthcare and care through distance spanning solutions: 24 practical examples from the Nordic region". From his experience and perspective: "Using data in healthcare is crucial to really benefit and do the best for each and every patient. We can see that from a cross-border perspective when it comes taking out prescriptions when you are travelling countries and also get the patient summary - that's something that you can do between Finland and Estonia. Foremost down to each and every citizen it is crucial to have the right data to the professionals you meet in both health and social care. And foremost for people who have different chronic diseases and get services both from health care and social care. For them, it is important because they meet a lot of professionals in their life. For them, it is very crucial that the right data is with the right institutions, doctors and nurses." 🔎 More about the summit ➡️ www.healthdatasummitriga.eu... See MoreSee Less

🗣 "There is a clear belief that sharing and collaborating on healthcare data is economic, social and moral imperatives. And we have heard stories from patients and patient organizations how important it is for them to share data in a safe way to make sure that new cures, new treatments are found faster and as precise as possible for their own specific conditions."

🗣 "We must remember that the patient, especially a patient with a serious diagnosis, is already in a fragile physical and emotional state. So the ability to retain information and instructions will be diminished. Having to remember everything and having the strength and resilience to do it all is not so simple, so it would be very beneficial to have systems in place that maybe remind us when and where we have to be or follow-up visits would be organised automatically rather than we, the patient, having to make phone calls only to be told that we can't make an appointment yet or that the doctor we need to see is only avaiable in three months."

That's why I think it is unavoidable and data is the future of healthcare."

For them, it is very crucial that the right data is with the right institutions, doctors and nurses."
